Happy Holidays!

It's amazing what a great time of year this can be.  Usually we put so much stress on ourselves that we forget to relax and enjoy all our blessings.  I'm so happy to say I got to truly enjoy my blessings this year.

Carter kept asking for two things this year, a bike and a train.  I was lucky enough to get a bike on Black Friday, so that demand was met.  I was also able to get a Thomas the Train set that same day.  I'm fortunate his demands are easily met.

Casey asked for one thing, coil springs for his truck.  Sorry to say, that did not happen and I'll tell you why.  I got him coil springs for his truck for Christmas before.  Really, how much fun is it to buy someone the exact same thing you've gotten them before?  Not that much fun.  To be honest,  that truck did get destroyed in a garage fire and these springs he was wanting were for a different truck.  I still just didn't feel like that was a good gift.  So I splurged a little and got an XBox 360.  So now I haven't hardly talked to him since because he's been occupied with that.  Go figure.

So my holiday is usually about giving.  I love being able to make people happy, my son especially.  He loves his bike he got from Santa.

This year I feel so blessed.  I didn't get truckloads of stuff, but I feel like people were more thoughtful with gifts.  Casey got me a new digital camera because mine broke and a pair of boots because I had thrown my old ones out.  Things I needed and I love.  My in-laws and mom went in together and got Casey and I a mixer.  We were completely surprised and we love it.  Some friends got us a board game that we've played together and really enjoy.  It's perfect.

It seems like so often we get overwhelmed by "stuff" that we forget about people.  Yes I like getting presents, but I'd rather get one meaningful gift than five pieces of junk.

So tonight, I baked cookies with Carter and Casey.  We cleaned the house and took down Christmas decorations.  Then I sat and watched my son ride his new bike around the coffee table.  All I could think about was how perfect it was, that moment and how happy that little boy was.

Blessings to Count

Lately I have been reminded of how blessed I am.  God works in amazing ways.  He gives us what we need, when we need it.

So here is a list of my blessings.

Family - Casey & Carter, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins.  I have so much and they are all so supportive.
Job - I have the most awesome job, with best employer.  I also have the absolute best clients.
Friends - Kristin & Melissa, Facebook friends, coworkers.
Home - It's amazing that Casey and I took an old house and put the work into it.  Now we have a home and it's not perfect, but I love what we've made of it.
Talent - I'm not trying to boast but I do give a pretty good haircut.
Health - Although I have the crud, I'm lucky to not have any other ailments.  I've also been blessed enough to have one healthy boy.

Now I'm blessed and tired.  Good Night.
